Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Deal Basket ("Deal Basket," "we," "us," or "our") is a service operated by Deal Basket LLC, located at 715 Saratoga Dr., Longview, TX 75601. This policy explains what information we collect through the Deal Basket mobile app and the dealbasket.app website (together, the "Service"), why we collect it, and what control you have over it.

Deal Basket is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any grocery retailer.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account information. Your email address and, if you choose to add one, a display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the basic profile information those services provide, which may be a private relay email address.
• Shopping lists and preferences. The items you add to a basket, saved lists, starred products, and the stores or brands you tell us you prefer.
• Addresses. A ZIP code or address you type in so we can find stores near you, and any delivery address you save for an order.
• Order information. If you place an order through the app, we keep what you ordered, which store filled it, the delivery or pickup time, substitutions you accepted or declined, the amount charged, and any dispute or rating you submit.
• Payment method details. Handled by Stripe. We store only a token, the card brand, and the last four digits so you can recognize a saved card.
• Receipts you upload. Photographs of store receipts you choose to scan, and the itemized data read from them. Receipts can reveal a lot about a household, so we never sell them. We use them to build your lists and your price history, and the prices printed on them also help correct the store prices we show other shoppers — aggregated with at least two other shoppers' observations of the same product at the same store, and not attributed to you.
• Loyalty program details. If you connect a store loyalty program, the membership or card number needed to apply your discounts.
• Messages you send us. The contents of support emails or feedback you submit.

Information collected automatically

• Device and app information. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and time zone.
• Usage information. Which screens you open, which features you use, and error or crash reports. We use this to fix problems and decide what to build next.
• Precise location, only if you allow it. If you grant location permission, we use your device's precise location to find stores near you and to sort them by distance. You can decline this and enter a ZIP code instead, and you can turn the permission off at any time in your device settings. The app works without it.
• Cookies on the website. The dealbasket.app site uses only the cookies needed for the site to function. We do not use advertising cookies.

What we do not collect

We never see or store your full card number. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, which receives your card details directly; we receive only a confirmation, the last four digits, and the card brand so we can show you which card is on file. We do not ask for your Social Security number, your government ID, or the login credentials for your store loyalty accounts. We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or health data.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• Price your list at stores near you and show you comparisons;
• Save your lists, preferences, order history, and savings history across your devices;
• Place, fulfil, and support orders you make through the app, including sharing what is needed with the store or delivery partner filling it;
• Send price alerts and other notifications you have asked for;
• Diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure;
• Understand which features are used so we can improve the app;
• Respond to your support requests; and
• Comply with legal obligations.

We use aggregated and de-identified data — for example, average basket prices across a metro area — to build and improve our price comparisons. Aggregated data does not identify you.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We share information only in these situations:

• Service providers. Companies that host our servers, deliver our email, or provide analytics and crash reporting, acting on our instructions and bound by contract.
• Legal reasons. When we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
• Business transfers. If Deal Basket is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
• With your direction. If you ask us to connect the Service to another app or account, we share what is needed to make that connection work.

5. Third-party services

The Service relies on the following third parties, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:

• Railway — hosting for our database and application servers.
• Stripe — payments and subscriptions. Stripe receives your payment details directly; we never see or store your full card number.
• Amazon Web Services (SES) — transactional email such as verification codes and password resets.
• Google Maps Platform — converting addresses into map coordinates so we can find stores and delivery areas near you.
• Anthropic — automated reading of receipt images you choose to upload, so we can turn them into itemized lists. Receipts are sent for processing only when you upload one.
• Expo — delivery of push notifications.
• Microsoft 365 — support and business email.
• Apple and Google — app distribution and push notification delivery.

Store prices shown in the app come from publicly available pricing sources and licensed data providers. Viewing a store's prices in Deal Basket does not share your identity with that store.

6. How long we keep data

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. Shopping lists and savings history are kept while your account is active so the app can show your history. Crash logs and analytics events are kept for up to 24 months. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep records to comply with law or resolve disputes.

7. Your choices and rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

• Access and edit your lists and preferences directly in the app;
• Turn off push notifications in your device settings;
• Turn off location access in your device settings; and
• Delete your account at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Residents of Texas, California, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws, as well as residents of the UK and EEA, have these rights under their local law. To make a request, email privacy@dealbasket.app. We will verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time your law requires.

We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still submit an opt-out request and we will confirm our practice in writing.

8. Deleting your account

You can delete your Deal Basket account from inside the app: open Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. Deleting your account removes your lists, preferences, and savings history. If you cannot access the app, email privacy@dealbasket.app from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.

9. Security

We protect information in transit with TLS encryption, restrict internal access to what employees need to do their jobs, and use reputable infrastructure providers. No service can promise perfect security, and we will not claim otherwise. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and any required regulator as the law requires.

10. Children

Deal Basket is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email privacy@dealbasket.app and we will delete it.

11. International users

Deal Basket is operated from the United States, and information we collect is processed and stored there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. If a change materially affects how we handle your personal information, we will give you notice in the app or by email before it takes effect.
